Medical translation demands more than language skills

In medical and pharmaceutical translation, a wrong term isn't a style issue — it's a patient safety issue. You need a translator who understands the medicine, not just the words.

Deep medical knowledge

Twenty years of continuous work in medical, pharmaceutical and medico-technical translation. I understand clinical trial methodology, regulatory language and therapeutic terminology — not just their Danish equivalents.

Regulatory precision

SmPCs, patient information leaflets and clinical protocols have specific regulatory language requirements. I know the conventions and standards expected by Danish regulatory bodies and ethics committees.

Consistent terminology

Medical terminology must be absolutely consistent across all documentation. I maintain detailed translation memories and client-specific termbases to ensure every term is used correctly every time.

Confidentiality

Clinical trial data and pharmaceutical documentation are highly sensitive. Your materials are treated with strict confidentiality throughout the translation process.

Medical documents I translate

From regulatory submissions to patient-facing materials — if it's medical and it needs to be in Danish, I've translated it.

Clinical Trial Protocols

Full protocols, protocol synopses, informed consent forms, investigator brochures and study-related correspondence.

SmPCs & PILs

Summaries of Product Characteristics and Patient Information Leaflets for pharmaceutical products, following EMA guidelines.

Medical Device IFUs

Instructions for Use, operator manuals and technical documentation for medical devices and surgical instruments.

IVD Documentation

Package inserts, instructions and labelling for in vitro diagnostic devices and test kits.

Marketing Materials

Product brochures, sales materials, website content and training documentation for medical and pharmaceutical products.

Dental Documentation

Materials for dental prosthetics, restorative systems, composite veneering technology and CADCAM dental systems.

Medical translation questions

Do you have experience with clinical trial documentation?
Yes. I have translated full clinical trial protocols, protocol synopses and related documentation across oncology, gastroenterology and other therapeutic areas. I'm familiar with ICH-GCP terminology and regulatory language conventions.
Can you handle EU MDR and IVDR documentation?
Yes. I have extensive experience with medical device and IVD documentation including Instructions for Use, labelling, performance evaluations and clinical evidence summaries. I understand the formatting and language requirements of EU regulatory submissions.
How do you ensure terminological consistency?
I use SDL Trados Studio and MemoQ Pro with client-specific translation memories and termbases. For ongoing clients, I maintain and build these databases over time, ensuring every term is used consistently across all your documentation.
What about confidentiality?
All materials are treated with strict confidentiality. I work on secure workstations and am happy to sign NDAs or confidentiality agreements as required. Clinical trial data and pre-submission documents are handled with appropriate care.
Can you work with existing translation memories?
Absolutely. I can import TMs in all standard formats (TMX, SDLTM, etc.) to ensure consistency with your existing translated materials. This also reduces costs for updates and new versions of previously translated documents.
Do you translate from other Scandinavian languages?
Yes. In addition to English–Danish, I translate from Swedish and Norwegian (Bokmål) into Danish. This is useful for Nordic pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers needing documentation across Scandinavian markets.
